UPSR Motivational Camp - SK Ulu Mosopoh

On the 27th until the 29th of July, SK Ulu Mosopoh (one of the school close to SK Tampusison) had successfully organised the 'Kem Motivasi UPSR', a motivational camp co-organised by SK Ulu Mosopoh as well as Yayasan Sabah. 'Kem Motivasi UPSR' is an event in which year 6 pupils from four nearby schools (SK Tampusison, SK Ulu Mosopoh, SK Pandiwan and SK Pementerian) are gathered together and given tips and strategies on how to prepare as well as to sit for the coming UPSR examination. Around 70 pupils made up the number of participants for the event. Besides being an escort to my pupils, I was priviledged to be appointed as one of the facilitator for the event. My session was on how to tackle the English Language examination papers. Two hours of session seems quite long for me but while delivering the session, two hours seemed a short time! I had so much to say yet the time given was inadequate. Much to my suprise really as I thought that two hours was kinda long. Anyway I managed to delivered my talk successfully and I wish that these pupils will get something from what I've said to them.

Throughout the event I should say that my camera was always with me. I was asked to be the photographer for the event, so besides delivering talks and facilitating, I also took time to cover the whole event, especially the closing ceremony. Since my pupils are already familiar with my camera, having seen it been swung here and there at school, the pupils from the other schools were in a bit of awe in seeing my camera. Why? Well I'll leave that for you to find out,.

A tribute to Cikgu Julianah

Work. Work. And more work. Perhaps it's obvious that as teachers, the months of July through to November are months when the workload seems to piled up than usual. With the major exams commencing in a couple of weeks time (for the UPSR) and a couple of months time (for PMR and SPM), efforts have been fully utilised to help prepare the pupils for the examination. Being a primary school teacher, I also share the pie of being fully occupied with extra tuitions, motivational camps, UPSR workshop and many more activities which were meant to prepare my pupils for the examination. All and all, time seems to fly. In three weeks time my pupils will be sitting for their UPSR. All the best to them.

Haven't really got the chance to update things here as I've been fully occupied. Plus, at where I'm teaching there's no internet connection. Nothing much happen since my last updating, but I would like to start with the 'Majlis Perpisahan Sempena Persaraan' for Cikgu Julianah Emot, whom we fondly address as Cikgu Ju. Cikgu Ju is one of the staff at the school where I'm teaching, so since her retirement date was on the 26th of July 2009, we held a moderate but merry parting reception for her on the 23rd of July. The whole event was touching yet joyous. All her family members were present as well. After the formals in which speeches were made and gifts were presented, the whole event moved on into a more free flow atmosphere. We had barbeques, dancing, karaoke singing and not to forget a bit of beer drinking. Had a really great time. Wishing Cikgu Ju lots of happy years ahead and thanks for all the memories.

Here are some photos of the reception (Thanks Haddy for helping out)
