Vasco and Melissa - 6 June 2009

Wedding bells were ringing on the 6 of June 2009. I was away at Keningau to photograph the wedding of Vasco and Melissa. My day started as early as 6.30 am and ended at 11.00 pm. During this wedding I invited two of my buddies to assist me in covering the event. My thanks goes to Haddy and Colin aka 'Cicak' for the assistant and the company shared. To Vasco and Melissa, thanks for gving me the chance to share your happiest day.

Clarence and Rebecca - 23 May 2009

On the 23rd of May 2009 I was as Sipitang covering a wedding. Clarence and Melissa were very friendly and vibrant couples. Of all the weddings that I've covered, this wedding would probably be the most unique for me so far. Rebecca is from Lawas, so she got a bit of that lundayeh cum kelabit in her. The hightlight of the whole event was the exchanging of gifts between the families of the bridegroom and the families of the bride. There's a bit of tradition involved. Indeed, it's quite nice to see things like this.

A few samples of the wedding are posted here (with permission form the couples).

Ulang Tahun Keuskupan ke-16, 2nd May 2009

It's about time I drop a visit into my photo inventory. During those hectic months I did however took a few shots of things away from weddings and events. On the 2nd of May 2009 our parish was given the honour of hosting the Perayan Ulang Tahun Keuskupan ke-16 which is an annual event. This year it was the turn of our parish to host the event. Being in my home town, I took the chance to photograph the event itself. I did made heads turn as I was taking photos during the service, I guess that's the first time those parisheners saw me with my camera (it's not that huge though, but compare it with a coolpix; you get the idea).

It was fun, people enjoyed it. Next year the event will be hosted by Tenom. So I guess if things go my way, I'll see you guys there.

It's been a while

Blank. Yes you heard he right. Blank. It's been a while since I got the chance to sit, open my laptop and get updated with all the happenings around me (through the internet, that is). If I do get it right, it has been nearly two months since I've updated my blog. The months of May and June has been a busy one for me. I covered two weddings plus a farewell dinner for some lovely trainee nurses. I didn't realize it at first but then somehow it made me think, and maybe I'm right in this sence as well; most established photographers spend a lot of their time on the computer rather that photo taking. Taking photos is only a small part in thier entire photography cum business empire.

Most of my time were spent doing photo touch ups and retouchings on the clients' wedding photos - a task I soon discovered was time consuming and a bit stressfull at times. But having shot a few weddings before, I could say that I'm well aware of the situation and manage to cope with the demands. Even so, I'm still learning the trade. There are ups and downs in it, but if you persevere. things will go through.

To say that I didn't enjoy all those moments would be a lie; I enjoyed every minute of the experience and am looking forward to more experiences such as these.

Well as for school, well you know how it goes. Work, work and more work. Never seems to end I'm afraid. The more the merrier I guess.
